Why Abdominoplasty is Often Necessary

The abdominal muscles can separate in a condition known as diastasis when they are stretched by pregnancy or excessive internal (visceral) fat. This creates a gap filled with connective tissue that cannot shrink. Even after losing weight, the abdominal wall may still sag forward.

Diet, exercise, and liposuction cannot treat the diastasis; only surgery helps.

Mini abdominoplasty

A mini abdominoplasty is performed when there is a small amount of excess skin to be removed, without tightening the abdominal muscles. Compared to a full abdominoplasty, it is less invasive and offers a faster recovery. The incision is shorter than with a full procedure and is hidden beneath underwear.

Abdominoplasty scarring

This is extensive surgery, so it is impossible to make the scar invisible. However, the scar is hidden as much as possible and runs 3–4 cm below the upper edge of underwear, making it unnoticeable.

Recovery after Abdominoplasty

After surgery, drainage is placed for 3-5 days, and the sutures are designed to dissolve naturally over time. However, even the most successful abdominal correction surgery requires strict adherence to the doctor's recommendations to ensure optimal results. During the recovery period, you must:

Attend follow-up appointments as scheduled.
Wear compression garments for one month.
Take the prescribed medications.
Avoid physical activity for one month.
Avoid heat treatments, such as saunas and hot baths for two months.

What happens during the procedure

During the consultation, you will discuss the placement of the scar, the position and shape of the navel and every other detail of the procedure. Abdominoplasty is an extensive surgery that requires a high level of skill.
